A list of top ideas and inspirations for your modern and contemporary dream bathroom
Any bathroom owner worth their salt is probably thinking about ways to make their bathroom better, and anyone with the same goal may already have some ideas to work with. But whether someone is on the path of an overall renovation or refurbishment or are simply thinking of various improvements, it wouldn’t hurt to get more inspiration, and this is where a lot of new ideas can come in. Spicing up a bathroom needn’t be that difficult – so here’s a list of top ideas and inspirations for a modern and contemporary dream bathroom.
Think of a spa-like ambience
Bathrooms in spas and resorts are always gorgeous, and their appeal stems from the fact that they are cosy, warm, peaceful, and refreshing. The idea of a spa-like bathroom isn’t new. Still, you can transform your bathroom by adding some spa favourites, such as a freestanding bath, a new and fully functional vanity, or even adding an entire bathroom suite with fitted modern bathroom furniture. You can then spruce it up by adding in a few details, from plants in the corners to a plush rug, a decorative mirror (time to replace that old and worn-down bathroom cabinet!) and a few aromatherapy candles to set the mood.
Get inspiration from your locale
Whether you live by the coast or near meadows and green fields, why not get inspiration from your locale? For example, a bathroom with wood panelling and dark green tiling can evoke the feeling of being in the forest, whilst a bathroom with taupe or blue tiling and plenty of natural lighting can make you feel like you’re just by the sea.
Add a seat or two
One other way you can upgrade the feel and look of your bathroom – and it’s an easy way, mind you – is to add a seat or two. Seating can make all the difference, and if your bathroom is large enough, you can go all out with a cosy armchair. Even just a wooden stool can add character to your bathroom, and it’s also a functional element where you can place various items, like magazines, a candle, or a glass of wine whilst you’re relaxing in the bath.
Take it up a notch with wallpaper
Wallpaper can also transform your bathroom and add more charm and character to it, and there’s no reason to be afraid of it! You can, for instance, put up wallpaper on one wall of the bathroom to serve as a feature wall, and you can go as creative as you like with a bold, colourful, and fun pattern. Just make sure you have the proper ventilation, so it doesn’t get damaged.
Consider unique lighting
Whilst an excellent modern and contemporary bathroom will always prioritise natural lighting, if you don’t have enough of it, you can always make up for it with artificial lighting. Poor lighting is the enemy of any bathroom, and you can level it up with a few carefully chosen fixtures. Aside from having a central lighting fixture in the middle of the room, you can add spotlights or downlights in the corners, and you can even place a small lamp on your vanity to give your bathroom a nice, warm, and soothing ambience.
