Simple ways to refresh your home decor for 2022

Simple ways to refresh your home decor for 2022

With the festive decorations finally away and a brand-new year ahead, now’s a perfect time to hit the refresh button on your home decor. Luckily, we have plenty of ways to give your space a lift for 2022, most of which require little to no interior design skills! What could be better?

Add some colour to your walls

Don’t get us wrong, we adore airy, neutral interiors. That said, if you’re finding yourself indoors more these days or you’ve started working from home, a splash of your fave hue on the wall is an instant mood-lifter!

Play with peel and stick wallpaper

If you’re currently renting and painting is a no-go, give peel and stick wallpaper a try! There are thousands of colours and prints to choose from, all of which will make any room feel instantly homier and look intentionally styled. The best part? It’s easy to remove, requires zero pasting skills and doesn’t damage the walls. Perfect for when you decide to move on – or just fancy another change!

Upgrade your door handles

Is this a tip we’ve given before? Yes. Is it worth mentioning again? Heck yes! Changing the handles on your drawers and cabinets is quick, inexpensive and seriously effective. Switch out tired wood or silver handles for more contemporary styles. Modern matte black or geometric gold designs are always a winner.

Choose a new colour accent

If you don’t fancy committing to painting your walls, you can focus on the smaller details in your space and add colour here instead. Things like throw pillows, blankets and printable art are great for making a room look totally different without changing much at all. They’re also pretty inexpensive, especially if you opt for vintage or pre-loved pieces.

Style your open shelving

Whilst shelves are great for storage, never underestimate their potential for a striking design moment! Instead of randomly lining up your books and knick-knacks, try displaying them in colour order, stacking a few of your favourite titles horizontally with a plant on top or creating a couple of spaces where small art pieces can be displayed.

Downsize the clutter

Painting and styling is all well and good but if there’s stuff everywhere, your home’s unlikely to feel its best any time soon. So, take this as your sign to finally get rid of anything you no longer use, you can even use this as an opportunity to donate a few bits and bobs to your favourite charity. After this, your surroundings will feel instantly roomier, plus, any decor changes you make from now will have a real chance to shine!
