South African gin Inverroche has recently launched a limited-edition gift set for Mother’s Day. The present perfectly sits within the new campaign By Nature, which celebrates the brand’s relationship with nature.
The set contains Verdant gin as well as wildflower seed bombs which, once planted, contributes to the growth of beautiful and aromatic flowers for mums to enjoy all year around. Other than decorative elements, the flowers attract bees and other native pollinators: a simple gesture that can contribute to the protection of the UK’s biodiversity with natural habitats for these creatures.
Verdant is one of the three core gins by Inverroche. The most aromatic one, it is characterised by a delicate floral hint and a golden-green hue. It’s an ambrosial ingredient to be mixed simply with a twist of lime and tonic on ice. The brand has partnered with Hampstead bar Heads + Tails for a series of cocktails inspired and dedicated to nature. You’re Mint, in the special drink menu created on the occasion, is a refreshing concoction featuring lime, lemon, honey and Verdant. The recipe is included as part of the Mother’s Day gift set, a sweet-scented addition for the celebration.
To enrich the collection, though, a must try are also the other two variants of Inverroche’s core range. The Classic originates in the limestone region and is prepared with South African citrus. The Amber is marked by a smoother texture and an amber tint, a favourite for drinks with intense characters.
Following her career path as the deputy mayor of the Hessequa local municipality in the Western Cape – the small town where she grew up – Lorna Scott was involved in sustainable development and soon, thus, in experimenting with infusion and small batches of gin. That’s how she eventually got to the perfect formula for the spirit and founded Inverroche in December 2011. The gins are originally infused with the bouquet of native fynbos botanicals, from the mountainous, rocky terrain of the Cape Floral Kingdom found in South Africa. These are indigenous flora that are currently under threat because of the agricultural development and invasive alien plants reaching the area. Through a sustainable, commercial use of the fynbos, Scott found a way to preserve this unique reality and tell the story of these plants around the world.
