My Chemical Romance bring energy and emotion to Milton Keynes Stadium
New Jersey rockers My Chemical Romance brought energy and emotion to Milton Keynes Stadium on Sunday in the opening months of their reinstated worldwide Reunion Tour. Fans were devastated by the group’s split in 2013, and are unsurprisingly ecstatic about their return, whose celebration was nixed by the pandemic after only one date in LA.
Their long-awaited arrival in Milton Keynes was met with tremendous energy, which the band reciprocated in spades, bringing new tracks such as The Foundations of Decay as well as smash hits like I’m Not OK and Bulletproof Heart. The euphoric excitement was palpable throughout the venue as song after song was rapturously received, reaching a tearful pinnacle when Gerard Way introduced Cancer, which was offered in a raw, understated version for the first time since 2012 (the band having been unable to perform it at their LA comeback show in 2019 in the wake of the death of their former manager, Lauren Valencia).
The Upcoming’s photographer, Virginie Viche was there to shoot the experience.
