Four out-of-the-box things to do in New York

New York City is one of the best locations to visit in the world.

Many believe that it is the place where you are able to do literally anything you want to do, whilst also being able to experience some of the best things the planet has to offer. Known as the Big Apple, the area is one of the most diverse places known to man, with a huge range of cultures to explore and experience.

In fact, as there are so many things to do in New York City, it can be incredibly hard to decide what to do on any given day. From exploring world-famous museums to shopping on Fifth Avenue, there is something for everyone in the Big Apple.

Of course, those things are some of the more familiar things to do when in New York. Indeed, there is nothing particularly wrong with these things, but we know that there are many around the world who want to go against the norm and do something very different.

From fashion and shopping to history and theatre shows, the Big Apple has it all. So, if you are looking for something a little different, here are four out-of-the-box ideas for things to do in New York City.

Go to a sporting event

Given that there are so many professional sports teams, there is always a game going on in New York.

You could either look to catch a Yankee’s game at Yankee Stadium or cheer on the Nets at Barclays Center. You could even go to Madison Square Garden and watch the New York Knicks take to the basketball court, or watch the New York Rangers on the ice. Additionally, you could even go to MetLife Stadium to watch the Giants or the Jets play!

Take a food tour

One of the best ways to experience a city is through its food.

Given the fact that the city is one of the most cultural and diverse in the world, New York has some of the best food in the world, so why not take a tour and try some of it?

There are plenty of companies that offer food tours, or you could even create your own!

Visit a speakeasy

New York City was once home to many speakeasies during Prohibition. Today, there are still many speakeasies operating in the city. Visit one for a unique drinking experience and enjoy something that is a little against the norm.

Ride the Staten Island Ferry

The Staten Island Ferry is one of the best ways to see the Statue of Liberty up close. The ferry is free, and it is a great way to get out of the city for a little while.

Final thoughts

To summarise, there are a number of different things you can look to do that are out-of-the-box whilst you are in New York City. Whether you want to go and watch one of the many iconic sports teams in action, or take a food tour whilst exploring the city, there is certainly something for everyone to enjoy!
