Top chefs with 51 Michelin stars between them celebrate the World Edition of Reach for the Stars at Vila Vita Parc in Portugal
Last Tuesday, 2nd August 2022, the World Edition of the Reach for the Stars event was held at Vila Vita Parc, in the Algarve (Portugal), on the occasion of the resort’s 30th anniversary. The event is one of 30 – with themes from gastronomy to art, lifestyle, culture and wellbeing – celebrating the milestone. Held over 30 weeks and bringing together food industry experts with over 51 Michelin stars between them, the series began in the last week of April and runs until late October.
Renowned chefs hail from all over the world for the milestone festival, with 25 natives of Portugal. For the World Edition, nine chefs from widespread countries, each with three Michelin stars, travelled together with some of the planet’s best wine producers to the south of the country. On a magical and memorable summer evening, the assembled experts created a tasting menu at the Manzar Terrace (at Vila Vita Parc’s Clubhouse), paired with a wide selection of the best national and international wine references.
The line-up included Paolo Casagrande (Lasarte, Spain), Gert de Mangeleer (Hertog Jan, Belgium), Jacob Jan Boerma (De Leest, Holland), Sven Elverfeld (Aqua, Germany), Juan Amador (Amador, Austria), Jan Hartwig (Atelier, Germany), Christian Bau (Victor’s Fine Dining, Germany), Klaus Erfort (Gästehaus Klaus Erfort, Germany), Peter Knogl (Cheval Blanc, Switzerland) and Heinz Beck (La Pergola in Rome, and Gusto in the Algarve).
Guests were welcomed with a cocktail, hosted by Hans Neuner, who is resident chef at two-michelin-starred Ocean, and drinks were followed by the iconic dinner before an after-party at V-Club Disco.
