Tips for a rainy day: Five ways to spend an autumnal Sunday afternoon

Keeping entertained and in a great mood on a rainy Sunday afternoon is no problem with some fun hobbies and activities to do at home. Even when the weather ruins plans to spend time outdoors, there are so many fun things to do at home. So, without further ado, here’s how to turn every rainy day into a lovely day.

1. Play video games

One of the most entertaining activities to do when stuck at home on a rainy day is indulge in some fun video gaming. If there are already gaming consoles, such as a Nintendo Switch, PlayStation or Xbox in the house, it’s easy to get going. Even without any of these gaming consoles, there is a variety of exciting video games to play on online platforms such as Stream.

There is also a range of mobile games to try out if this is something that is more appealing.

2. Have a movie marathon

A reliably fun escape for rainy days is watching movies. It’s possible to enjoy a movie marathon with friends or family or alone. For a classic, there’s The Breakfast Club or Back to the Future. For heartwarming family fun there’s My Neighbor Totoro, Forrest Gump always tugs the heartstrings, and for something completely different there’s Top Gun or Scarface. The best part is these are available on Netflix.

Speaking of Netflix, the world’s most popular streaming platform also features a variety of awesome comedy movies, such as Day Shift, The Takedown, Red Notice, The Sea Beast, Love Hard, The Package, The Hustle, Knives Out, Ocean’s 8 and Murder Mystery, among many others.

3. Bake some cupcakes

For those into cooking and baking, there is no better way to spend a wet afternoon than baking some delicious cupcakes and cookies. If the higher amount of carbs and sugar in these delicacies is not a worry, it’s easy to look for online recipes to bake something new, and the Internet is a great place to find healthier options too.

4. Cook easy, delicious meals

Aside from baking, there is an opportunity to exercise creative skills with cooking. Whether it’s for some self-indulgence or for family and friends, there are tonnes of different recipes online for all timescales and abilities. One of these is delicious baked feta pasta that has gone viral a couple of months back. Even novice chefs can make chicken, gnocchi, stuffed peppers, garlic salmon, lettuce wraps and lots of things between.

5. DIY crafts

To really show off that creativity, some DIY crafts are a definite must. Those who are not afraid of a challenge can make bath bombs or candles with just a couple of ingredients. It’s also relatively easy to make handmade soaps or get sewing and make some unique throw pillows with unusual prints.

For most people, buying décor for the holiday season is an important tradition, bit this might be the year to consider hand-making ornaments for something unique and memorable. To redecorate at home, making original wall décor, paintings or posters can perfectly reflect the owner’s particular style.
