Roaming the Rhône: Joe Wadsack, Libby Zietsman-Brodie and Andrew Sheridan explore the celebrated wine region and meet the producers
The Rhône wine region, in the Rhône valley of Southern France, produces numerous wines under various Appellation d’origine contrôlée (AOC) designations. The area is generally divided into two sub-regions with distinct cultural traditions where wine making is concerned: the Northern Rhône (referred to in French as Rhône septentrional) and the Southern Rhône (in French Rhône méridional). The north produces red wines from the Syrah grape and white wines from Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier grapes. The southern sub-region makes a variety of red, white and rosé wines that are often blends of several grapes such as in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Roaming the Rhône is a wine-utainment series that celebrates all things Rhône with top wine personalities Joe Wadsack, Libby Zietsman-Brodie and rugby and wine hero Andrew Sheridan. Deep in Southern Rhône the wine explorers go on a journey to unearth the stories, beliefs and history that lie behind the wonderful Côtes du Rhône region as they travel to vineyards, meet the producers and, of course, sample some standout wines.
