A trip to Costa Adeje, Spain: Five of the best things to do
Costa Adeje is an up-market coastal resort on the southwestern part of the Spanish island of Tenerife (one of the Canary Islands), in the province of Adeje, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It’s an area that attracts travellers in search of sophisticated sandy beaches, high-class entertainment, luxurious accommodation and fine dining. There is plenty to do, with suitable diversions for all kinds of visitors. Here are some of the many options:
Beaches
The quality of the beaches in southern Tenerife makes them among the best in the Canary Islands, with warm sea temperatures for much of the year. There are six major examples, including the Playa Fañabé, the Playa del Duque, Playa de Torviscas, Playa la Pinta, Playa Ajabo and the Playa San Juan.
Playa Fañabé is an attractive possibility, with a large stretch of sand and ideal conditions for swimming in the ocean. Playa del Duque is similarly suitable for swimming, and a chic option with soft, golden sand and beautiful clear water. There are comfortable sunbeds and an elegant promenade that’s buzzing with great restaurants and bars. A wide variety of fish can be found at the tranquil cove of Playa Paraiso, which boasts a fantastic five-star hotel on the seafront.
Outdoor sports and activities
There are lots of outdoor activities to enjoy on the Costa Adeje, including jet-skiing, windsurfing and more on the beach. Out to sea there are boat trips along the coast, and tours to watch whales and dolphins in their natural habitat. Iberostar hotels in Costa Adeje are a great option there.
Golf lovers will be in their element here, with a championship course, stunning views and lush landscapes at their disposal. For the kids there are two exciting water parks: Aqualand has fun slides and an incredible dolphin show and Siam Park is one of the biggest and best of its kind in Europe.
Shopping
High-end boutiques can be found all over the resort, and there are shopping centres within walking distance of some of the beaches. Any given designer label can be found here with top-end products ranging from luxury foods to jewellery and watches, leather goods, clothing and cosmetics.
Nightlife
By night the resort comes alive. Countless top-quality restaurants offer international cuisine, the lounge and cocktail bars are great places to enjoy a drink with friends, and the varied music venues and clubs provide opportunities to party late into the night. That said, Costa Adeje isn’t a big clubbing destination like neighbouring Playa de las Americas – this is the place for classy waterfront restaurants, live music and cabaret, and it’s a lot more family-focused..
Celebrity cool
Finally, Costa Adeje is a prime location for celebrity spotting – which is hardly surprising considering the luxury villas, five-star hotels, designer shopping and haute cuisine available. The Beckhams are rumoured to be regular visitors!
