A guide to the best of luxury London
London can be a staggeringly expensive city, even when one is trying not to spend money. Many of us spend the weekend in London and wonder how on Earth we’ve come home penniless again, despite our best efforts to tighten the purse strings this time around. However, there are some occasions where it really does pay to push the boat out, and a luxury experience in London can be one of them. The capital has so much to offer to discerning customers with deep pockets. So, for those feeling flush and want to experience the high life, this is a guide to the most special and sophisticated ways to splash that cash in London.
Travel in style
Taking the tube is rarely a highlight of a London trip. It’s often running late. it’s always packed at the weekends and you generally come up back into the fresh air feeling a little grimy. Instead of hopping on the tube as a mode of transport, you can instead hire a Rolls Royce and a chauffeur to cruise the streets in style. An Uber is alright, but there’s something really special about pootling around in a classic car. A Rolls Royce Phantom comes in at £175 per hour, including a driver, so it’s not cheap, but it might be worth it. With a full leather interior, tinted windows and all of the modern conveniences inside, and a vintage style outside, there’s maybe no car more stylish in the world!
Crash The Ritz
Afternoon tea at The Ritz is one thing, but splashing out at some of their other iconic facilities is even better. This flashy and super famous hotel is a playground for the rich and famous, so it’s the place to be to rub shoulders with them. There’s palatial decor and more glitz than it’s possible to take in in just one visit. It’s worth devoting some time to dining at the lavish restaurant, enjoying a tipple at the famous bar, or even staying for a night or two in the sumptuous hotel, if the budget permits. There are also a plethora of real money slots to play in the UK, including at The Ritz, as well as online.
Enjoy fine dining at Harrods
Treating oneself to a fancy meal couldn’t be easier to achieve in London – the difficult part is deciding which of the hundreds of excellent restaurants to go to. There are plenty with Michelin stars, which are always an exciting treat, but one place that’s a little bit different from the rest is Harrods. It used to be possible to eat at Harrods up until 7pm, but as of last year they’ve opened an evening dining service across all of the restaurants. This means you can shop until you drop right into a comfortable seat at one of their luxury eateries. Although there are a whole lot of places to choose from, a table at Kama by Vineet is a must. This Indian restaurant is run by Vinet Bhatia, the first ever Indian chef to own a Michelin-starred restaurant in the United Kingdom. Whilst many will indulge in a korma or a vindaloo from the local takeaway, Bhatia’s cooking is a little different. He has brought a mixture of authentic South Indian flavours together with some Western indulgences and created a menu that is truly out of this world. The thali is a great option for those wanting to try small bites of lots of different dishes, but to get stuck into a full-size main meal then the Pistachio Crusted Lamb Chops, rubbed in heady spices, is a true indulgence.
