And Just Like That….It’s Been 25 Years, A Sex and the City experience

And Just Like That….It’s Been 25 Years, A Sex and the City experience

Following the global success of six previous seasons, two blockbuster films and a spin-off returning to screens shortly for a second series, the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the Sex and the City franchise kick off with a six-day pop-up immersive event in the heart of Piccadilly in London. The event pays homage to the glamorous quartet of the show, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones (Kim Catrall), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York (Kristin Davies), as visitors get to enter a carefully curated reconstruction of Carrie’s charming New York apartment.

Snaking our way around the series of rooms her bedroom is peppered with photo frames of the famous characters in the show, there’s also a desk next to the made bed with a computer open and a post-it note attached saying “I’m sorry, I can’t, don’t hate me” (a nod to the original note she used to end things with her writer boyfriend Jack Berger). Various bookshelves in this feminine space brim with designer coffee-table books casually perching against things, like Carr’s book on how to give up smoking. This room then leads visitors into her bountiful wardrobe space where her famous tulle tutu dangles from a hook whilst a swathe of sequins, chiffon and boucle outfits sit next to treasured accessories and numerous pairs of designer shoes. Beaming attendants are on hand here to make sure everyone gets their chance to take the perfect Instagram shot before attendees wander around her immaculate kitchen or get the chance to sit and gaze out of her window whilst tapping at the keys of her computer.

Once you’re done snooping, you can head to the bar and sip on your complimentary cosmopolitan cocktails. There’s a huge floor-to-ceiling wall filled with facts and photos through the decades of this series and a glass-fronted upper level where you can have a balcony overview of the entire space. It’s not a huge installation, and it doesn’t take long to get around, but for die-hard fans, it offers a refresh of some much-loved iconic moments of SATC and a chance to embrace some of the glamour of this New York-based show.
