Thai Kosai: Holborn’s newest massage spa
Since the 2015 opening of its original location, Thai Kosai rapidly became one of East London’s favourite massage destinations, earning a devoted clientele among residents and visitors. Managed by a group of Thai women, the enterprise takes pride in offering a select menu of Thai massages, eschewing additional beauty treatment accessories. As the founder Kanjana Sawangha stated, “The decision was made to focus on performing one service excellently rather than attempting to provide a vast range of hot stone treatments, saunas, body scrubs, facials and the like. So Thai massage is all that is done here!” Thai Kosai’s second site, having recently opened in Holborn following a year-long fit-out, is gaining popularity.
The branch provides the same limited selection of massage treatments at identical prices to the original premises. Situated a short walk from Holborn tube station, Thai Kosai stands as a haven of serenity, far from the commotion of central London. Inside, a sense of tranquillity prevails, fostered by warm colours and textures, sandstone tiles, and traditional Thai ornaments, including genuine antique teak furniture. The close-knit team of therapists, all qualified in traditional medicine and physiotherapy in Thailand, deliver careful and distinctly Thai service.
Since the massage treatments are uniformly priced, customers can combine different aspects to discover the most suitable option for their needs – for instance, deep tissue work on shoulders, along with traditional Thai stretching of legs and calves. To achieve ultimate relaxation, aromatherapy massage is offered, with a small selection of in-house mixed aromatherapy oils to select from. With the current summer appearing increasingly dismal, there are few better ways to elude the rain than an hour or two of personal pampering. The shop opens weekdays from 11 am, and appointments can be arranged online, with rates commencing at £65 for an hour.
