Barcelona’s hottest bars Sips and Boadas to take over The Donovan for two days

For two nights this week, The Donovan Bar at Brown’s Hotel in Mayfair will host renowned bartenders from Barcelona’s award-winning Sips and historic Boadas Bar, for a not-to-be-missed cocktail takeover. This event, in partnership with Amaro Santoni, sees the two institutions making their first venture into the UK bar scene.

Sips, voted the third best bar in the world by 50 Best Bars in 2022, along with Boadas, Barcelona’s eldest cocktail establishment, previously under the proprietorship of Jerónimo Vaquero Barea for over half a century, were acquired by Caporale and Marc Alvarez in 2022.

The first evening slated for the 11th of September, featuring Sips from 7pm to 10pm, followed by Boadas, taking the helm on the 12th of September, during the same time window. Guests can anticipate a specially curated menu, wherein the talented trio  Caporale, Salvatore and Pavan – merges their distinct stylistic approaches to mixology, integrating elements of Italian, Spanish and London cocktail cultures.

Created through a rigorous collaborative process, every concoction features Amaro Santoni, a celebrated “dolce-amaro aperitivo,” as a key ingredient, marrying diverse geographical tastes into an exceptional menu, envisaged to showcase the crème de la crème of the world’s mixology talent.

At the Donovan, Londoners will have the unique opportunity to witness firsthand the craftsmanship of three cocktail industry’s leaders, delivering a symposium of taste and expertise, leveraging a rich heritage of cocktail craftsmanship from varying global perspectives. It not only promises a confluence of styles and flavours but also celebrates the heritage and skills of these professionals.
