The Mathematics Tour: All the opening acts in Europe dates
Is it completely true that concerts wouldn’t be completely fun if headliners left out the part where they invited opening acts to tour with them?
Over the past years, we’ve seen celebrated artists invite other artists, especially upcoming artists to tour with them. In most cases, the opening act is presented with an opportunity to perform to a bigger crowd than they’ve ever had the chance to meet in the baby stage of their career.
Now a tradition, concertgoers have grown to expect opening acts in every live show they attend and some headliners like Ed Sheeran do not disappoint their fans.
Ed seemed to have invited the best opening acts to his European leg of the Mathematics tour since it is one of the most talked about moments of the tour and his fans can’t seem to get over it.
In 2022, when Ed started the Mathematics tour in Europe, he invited 5 opening acts who collectively made the tour for his European fans an amazing experience. We will be looking at the profiles of these opening acts, and the city they made the most impact in during their time in Europe with Ed.
Before then, know that Ed Sheeran tickets are up for grabs and you can get them from an esteemed marketplace tasked with the duty of making them available for you.
Denise Chaila
The first on our list is Denise Chaila. She is of mixed nationality – an Irish singer, rapper, and hip-hop artist with the traits of Zambia where she was born to the family of Lydia and Elijah Chaila.
Denise began her journey to fame back in 2012, but she released her debut extended play, “Duel Citizenship,” in 2019 which received global recognition thanks to the fact that she has been active for long before its release.
Before opening for Ed in April and May during the Irish leg of his mathematics tour, Denise had performed alongside multiple bands. That explains how she managed to control the crowd and make them vibe to her methods when she took the stage in Croke Park, Dublin, and Boucher Road Playing Fields, Belfast.
Dublin held one of the sweetest moments for Denise as she performed to more than 150k people who turned up for the show.
The crowd especially loved Denise’s performance because she is one of them, an Irish and she has been featured in previous tours in Ireland even before the Mathematics tour came.
One of the major contributors to Denise’s fame is her features in remote performances that took place during the pandemic.
A lot of people knew Denise even before getting to meet her physically, so watching her perform during the mathematics tour was just to feel her musical magic for the first time.
Dylan
The second support act on our list is Dylan. She is an English Songwriter and singer, born in Bures, England.
Dylan started playing musical instruments at a very young age. She mastered the guitar at the age of 10, and soon began writing songs which she sent to a producer known as, “Will Hicks,” who immediately took interest in her work and decided to work with her.
Ed Sheeran brought Dylan along to Wales, England, and Scotland where she performed during the mathematics tour in May, June, and July 1st.
She released her debut EP, “Purple,” back in 2019, with two others, “Red,” and “No Romeo,” in 2020 and 2022 respectively.
Thanks to Ed Sheeran, Dylan got to perform for more than 450k people in 5 days during the Mathematics tour. The show in London gave Dylan the chance to present her craft to a larger audience who from that moment became solid fans of her music.
One thing that connects Dylan to Ed Sheeran is their love for guitars. This is one of the reasons that made Sheeran invite her to the tour. Nonetheless, the fans loved Dylan’s performance.
Cat Burns
The third act on our list is Cat Burns. She is also an English songwriter and singer who rose to fame in 2020.
Burns was born to a Liberian family that migrated to England during the Civil War. She has also confessed to loving Ed so much that she sort of described her music as his. Even though in some cases, she insists her music is pop with a soft edge to it, she is a lover of the guitar and her sounds are in some cases related to that of Ed’s.
Furthermore, the mathematics tour is the 2nd tour that Burns has been featured on since the break of her career. She supported Ed on some selected dates during the mathematics tour – in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Austria, and Switzerland.
That’s quite a few, innit? Ed presented Burns with the opportunity to display her musical artistry to a larger audience in Germany and France after performing alongside him on stage to more than 500k people in total.
The effect of her appearance in the lineup of the mathematics tour showed as her Instagram followers increased with Germans making more of the addition.
Griff
The fourth act on our list is Sarah Faith Griffiths AKA, Griff. She is also an English singer and songwriter who rose to fame in 2019 after the announcement came that she had been signed to Warner Records.
On the same day as the signing, Griff released her debut single, “Mirror,” the song reflected a solid future for Griff that the world is now a witness.
Griff performed alongside Maisie Peters and Cat Burns during the mathematics tour in Germany and Switzerland. The show in Germany particularly revealed the importance of entertainment for Griff. She confessed to being overwhelmed by the number of people she saw in 3 days while in Germany.
Aside from supporting Ed on the Mathematics tour, Griff has also appeared in the list of supporting acts in one of Britain’s most successful bands, Coldplay, during the band’s ongoing Music of the Spheres World Tour.
Maisie Peters
Maisie Peters is the last act on this list of all the opening acts that toured Europe for Ed’s Mathematics tour.
She has been with Ed Sheeran through all of his tour dates in Europe and has appeared on stage alongside other supporting acts that were featured as well.
As an English songwriter and singer, Maisie rose to fame at the age of 15 after performing her first recorded shows on “The Ayala Show.”
The reason why she is most featured in Ed’s Mathematics tour is because she is currently signed to Ed’s Gingerbread Man’s Record. Under Ed, Maisie has reached a height in her career that she might’ve never imagined.
Her debut album, “You Signed Up For This” was released back in 2021 under Gingerbread Man Record and it reached No.2 on the UK Albums Chart.
In conclusion, you can see that all the support acts that Ed invited to assist him as he toured Europe for the Mathematics tour were all English artists. This made their connectivity with the people in Europe effortless and also created a chance for them to win over more fans to their genre of music.
