Music of the Spheres: Coldplay visit Athens, Greece amidst tour
Four months ago, when the rumour about the coming of Coldplay to Athens, Greece, for the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” was suspended because the venue that they were supposed to perform in, which is “The Olympic Stadium” in Athens, failing safety tests, came out, a lot of Greeks were devastated.
The Greeks have waited years to watch Coldplay perform live, only for the wait, which is limited to months ahead, to be suspended till further notice with the tour going straight to the waiting list. Fast forward to today, we have reasons to be happy, as Coldplay refreshed the list of locations they will be visiting this year, and Athens, Greece is still on the list.
The news that has come with a light of hope has left so many Coldplayers scrambling for tickets, where they can find one. Tickets to Coldplay concerts have since been sold out or are currently sold for outrageous prices due to the “unprecedented Demands” by fans around the globe.
It’s no longer news that Coldplay fans from all over the world travel around, following Coldplay to their next concert just to watch them perform. The fan energy has now made getting tickets to even the Athens show scheduled to be held on the 8th and 9th of June, by indigenes, nearly impossible.
With the number of pre-registered Coldplayers, waiting in line might be a terrible idea, especially when we have a better option for a tickets marketplace where you can get Coldplay Athens tickets, and completely evade the stress of getting them elsewhere.
How crazy are Coldplayers in Athens?
The world might have completely ignored or sidelined the Coldplayers in Athens. Still, they have proven to be better supporters of Coldplay music, more than some of the cities Coldplay visits occasionally.
Take a look at Coldplay’s 9th studio album, “Music of the Spheres.” It immediately topped the charts of the “International Federation of the Phonographic Industry Greece” AKA IFPI Greece, when it was released, before the “Music of the Spheres World Tour,” began in 2022.
That is the recognition recorded from Greece specifically, aside from other cities in the UK where the “Music of the Spheres” album has been certified gold, and Europe as a whole.
Extensively, we decided to see how active the Coldplayers in Athens are via YouTube. We searched “Coldplay in Athens,” and we found posted videos of Coldplay’s performances in “Athens Concert Hall.”
The video was dated back to 2012, and within that time frame, Coldplay was not touring, so we assumed it was a solo concert, since “Athens Concert Hall” is a very small venue known to carry approximately 2k number of people.
That being the basis, it’s safe to assume that the last time Coldplay was in Athens was 12 years ago, arguably.
But, that is about to change this year, as Athens, Greece is going to host the British band for 2 days in one of the biggest concert arenas, the Athens Olympic Stadium which is known to carry more than 75k people.
Five things to know about Coldplay if you’re a true fan
Yes, it’s no longer news that Coldplay has broken so many records ever since they began the “Music of the Spheres World Tour,” countering their records along the line. But, we have the feeling that some of their fans are still in the dark about some of the major achievements that the British Band has successfully added to their track record.
If you’re one such person, then that is about to change as we share 5 facts about Coldplay. And all are attributed to the “Music of the Spheres.”
Greece trendsetters
It’ll be great to know that Coldplay is the first international musical act to schedule 2 shows on a single tour in Greece. They have cleared the way for other acts currently touring the world, and those planning to.
The way this works is that, now, many other artists will want to have their names listed as part of the musical acts that have conquered Greece with their music. Sadly, their attestation will now come after Coldplay since they are currently recognised as the first.
But generally, this is a good thing to know. Especially because Coldplay is yet to come. Y’all in Greece will treat them more special now with this piece of information.
The band with the highest level of intimacy with their fans
Before Coldplay, there were hundreds of bands that toured and entertained the world. However, none have we seen, with the level of intimacy that Coldplay shares with their fans.
Here’s what to expect with regards to the intimacy Coldplay shares with their fans, if Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres World Tour” is yet to reach your city.
Fan time: When Coldplay picks a fan from the crowd to join them on stage and perform a song.
Setlist alter by fans: It happens, the time when Coldplay performs a song chosen by their fans amidst the concert.
Fan verse: The time when Coldplay sings a verse, and allows the crowd to sing the other verse.
All these are moments that Coldplay fans now look forward to amidst the “Music of the Spheres World Tour.”
A fan engaging setting
We’ve grown to see so many acts tour the world with different kinds of venue settings. At a point in time, there were 3D stages or flowing stages. However, with Coldplay, expect all these and more. When it comes to engaging the minds of their fans, Coldplay went the extra length to make certain of this.
And it includes bringing along a “Kinetic Dance Floor” which fans can dance on to generate energy that will be used to power the show.
Imagine attending a concert, and then participating in making the earth greener, it’s an insane feeling, innit?
You will also be met with a terrific fireworks display. This has been a signature event in Coldplay’s concerts.
Stationary bikes for you to peddle and also generate energy that will be used to power the concert you’re presently in. So if you’re not a good dancer, don’t worry, you can also participate and contribute to making the earth greener through the energy you generate from the stationary bike.
These and many more are what you should expect.
The first band that will foresee the large-scale use of synchronised fan-hand-bands in Greece
Far from the use of phone flashlights, Coldplay uses “PixMob Hand Bands” to connect with their fans. Usually, concertgoers get one. And Coldplay uses a centralised system to sync the bands with their performance.
Sometimes, during “Music of the Spheres World Tour” concerts, Coldplay uses the same centralised system to light up some part of the crowd, creating a heart shape with their bands, whenever they perform, “Human Heart.”
When this happens in Athens, Coldplay will be the first musical act to see the use of “PixMob Hand Bands” on a large scale. They have already been crowned the first to initiate the use of “Xylobands” on a large scale in the world.
Coldplay connects to a Greek methodology
So far, so good. Coldplay’s music has been a source of healing, light, and inspiration for a lot of people all around the world. We see this from the moments posted on socials from the countries they have visited.
This connects them with Apollo, the god of music, healing, and light, according to the Greek methodology.
