Back to Black film on Amy Winehouse set for UK release on 12th April 2024 with Marisa Abela in the lead
In an exciting development for fans of the iconic Amy Winehouse, Studio Canal and Monumental Pictures have shared the trailer for Back to Black, a feature film exploring the life and music of the legendary artist. Directed by the acclaimed Sam Taylor-Johnson, the film is set to open in UK and Irish cinemas on 12th April 2024, promising an intimate look at Winehouse’s vibrant years in London and her meteoric rise to fame.
Marisa Abela, known for her role in Industry, takes on the challenging role of Amy Winehouse, supported by a stellar cast including BAFTA-winning actor Jack O’Connell, Eddie Marsan and Golden Globe and Oscar-nominated Lesley Manville. The screenplay, penned by Matt Greenhalgh, marks a reunion with Taylor-Johnson following their collaboration on Nowhere Boy in 2009.
The production boasts the full support of Universal Music Group, Sony Music Publishing and The Amy Winehouse Estate, ensuring that many of Winehouse’s hit songs will feature prominently in the film.
