New musical No Love Songs by Mercury Prize-nominated Kyle Falconer set for London stage
Dundee Rep has confirmed that its critically acclaimed production, No Love Songs, will be making its much-anticipated London debut at Southwark Playhouse Elephant from 4th to 15th June 2024, following a triumphant season at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The musical, a collaboration between The View’s Kyle Falconer, Laura Wilde and Johnny McKnight, draws from Falconer’s solo album No Love Songs For Laura, offering a heartfelt narrative on love and the journey into new parenthood.
Tickets for the London run are now available, promising audiences a unique blend of gig theatre and emotive storytelling. The musical delves into the complexities of post-natal depression through the lives of its protagonists, Lana and Jessie, as they adapt to the realities of parenting.
Falconer and Wilde expressed their excitement about the London transfer, stating, “We always aimed to get No Love Songs to a wider audience but knowing that it’s officially going to showcase in London is such an incredible feeling! We have had a lot of people messaging us from the area asking when it would be coming closer to them so we are honestly so pleased and can’t wait to get the audience feedback – we just know you’re going to love it!”
The production is co-directed by Dundee Rep’s Artistic Director, Andrew Panton, and Associate Director Tashi Gore. Panton shared his enthusiasm about bringing the show to a new audience, saying, “We’re thrilled to be bringing No Love Songs to Southwark Playhouse this summer. Watching the impact the story had at the Edinburgh Festival was thrilling and we look forward to the show meeting new audiences in London before international touring”.
No Love Songs aims to provide a powerful and personal examination of love’s complexities, underscored by Falconer’s hit music. With its origins deeply rooted in Falconer and Wilde’s creative partnership, the musical promises to be an unmissable event for theatre-goers and music fans alike.
