Unicorns: On the red carpet with James Krishna Floyd, Jason Patel and Ben Hardy
Writer and director James Krishna Floyd explores identity within his drama film Unicorns. Co-directed with Sally El Hosaini, the feature follows a queer South Asian nightclub performer and single father who works as a mechanic. The relationship that blossoms between the two leads them on a road of self-discovery.
Jason Patel’s colourful and charismatic debut and Ben Hardy’s emotional exploration of love and desire promises a nuanced and heartfelt story about understanding and authenticity.
We caught up with the director and cast at the BFI Southbank, as the venue celebrated its 38th BFI Flare LGBTQIA+ Film Festival.
Director James Krishna Floyd spoke to us about his process behind writing the film, as well as what he was looking for from his cast and the importance of the feature being part ofth BFI Flare.
The wonderful Jason Patel discussed what it was like to film alongside Hardy and Floyd, as well as his own music featuring as part of the Unicorns soundtrack.
Ben Hardy told us what audiences can expect when they sit down, popcorn in hand. Explaining the filming process, Hardy elaborated on his experience shooting the project across a short five-week schedule.
