Wreck season two: On the red carpet with the cast and creatives for the London premiere

Written by Ryan J Brown, Wreck season two follows on from the huge success of the previous series, which ended dramatically in a hazy bloodbath. Bringing back to screen this horror-comedy narrative, we re-join Jamie (Oscar Kennedy), Vivian (Thaddea Graham) and the rest of the survivors as they band together in another attempt to overthrow the evil corporation of Velorum.

After the last season was set at sea aboard the Sacramentum cruise ship, the group are now a  few months on and back on dry land. Still on the search for Jamie’s lost sister Pippa (Jodie Tyack), who they believe may have been murdered, their investigative journey leads them to a millionaire’s wellness retreat run by Velorum where once again they find themselves in a gory battle to survive.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking with the cast and creatives on the red carpet. We had the pleasure of hearing from Oscar Kennedy, Orlando Norman and Buck Braithwaite about receiving the script and their thoughts on the new season. They also spoke about the elements of humour and all the blood and gore.

 

Miya Ocego and Shaheen Jafargholi then spoke about what it means to return to their roles and also the unique aspect of the LGBTQ+ community being represented through this horror-comedy genre narrative.

Sam Buttery spoke about how she felt when she read the script this time around and the joy of playing her evil character, as well as the ingredients that make it a success.

We spoke to Warren James Dunning about coming back into this new season, the way it’s been delivered on a grander scale this time around brings in a host of new cast members to join the ensemble.

Peter Claffey chatted with us about what makes this story so interesting, how Ryan has created something so original and the way the cast and storylines all connect seamlessly.

Series creator Ryan J Brown spoke to us about bringing the script to life, the collaborative process of making this new season with all the effects and all the horror references and Easter eggs hidden within the episodes. He also hinted at a few teasers about their series and what fans can expect.

We spoke to Alice Nokes and Amber Grappy about their return to Wreck, the new journeys their characters go on and their favourite moments on set where they felt like one big family.

Jodie Tyack, James Phoon and Ali Hardman told us how they felt the script was bigger and bolder with more twists and turns, their favourite moments on set and how they enjoyed coming back as friends and working together again.

Phil Martin spoke about the brutal element of his character and taking on such a challenging role. He also spoke about airing some of those sets with a stunt double despite wanting to take it all on himself.

Anthony Rickman chatted about his role as Jamie’s romantic interest in the series, how unique and special he felt the script was and how he felt Ryan celebrated the queer community. He also spoke about working with such a brilliant ensemble cast.

We had the chance to catch up with Harriet Webb, who also starred in the first season, as she spoke about what she felt when she saw what Ryan had prepared for them with this instalment.
