Eras Tour: A day in Taylor Swift’s concert – Spain
Taylor Swift came to Spain and held her concert in Madrid’s Estadio Santiago Bernabéu – which has a concert capacity of more than 80k people. She saw the beautiful city, and then she conquered it. The weapon she used was none other than “the Eras Tour.” One of the most impactful tours to be organized in history. We’re not just talking about the female category or male category this time, it’s a world-class thing.
We lack the proper words to express our experiences at Taylor Swift’s Madrid concert. The concert lasted for 2 nights only, but we’ve been writing about Taylor Swift for far too long, that we thought we’d read and seen it all. Boy, were we wrong? We’ve collectively agreed that we’ve misjudged Taylor’s “Eras Tour” enough. The Madrid concert was an eye opener that, “Hey, Taylor’s got more tricks under her sleeves.”
At some point, we felt like Taylor Swift was consistent with her performances in every concert. That she does the exact thing, everywhere she goes during the tour. While that may be true, what we saw in Madrid opened our eyes to a truth we’ve failed to realize all along.
Yes, Taylor Swift is consistent, but she doesn’t replicate every performance. What she does is, make each following night better than the previous night. You can’t deny the fact that there’s a bit of likeness in her performances. But that is restricted to only a few sections of the tour.
For instance, we already know she cannot change the lyrics of her songs. But even that does not go without its improvement. We’ve attended some of her concerts to know that, the way she sang “Champagne Problems” in Buenos Aires, isn’t the same way she performed it in Madrid.
One other thing that has remained a constant amidst the “Eras Tour” is the dress section. She has been consistent with wearing a specific dress that represents an Era she is rocking. That has not only beautified the concert, it has created an intimacy between her fans. A lot of Swifties rock the same dress as a particular Era. By the time Taylor appears on stage wearing the same dress, the joy cannot be expressed in words.
The “Eras Tour” concert at Madrid’s Estadio Santiago Bernabéu began like every other “Eras Tour” concert. judging the concert from the onset, it would pass as a regular Taylor Swift concert. However, it didn’t. Here’s how a day in Taylor Swift’s concert feels, in sections.
The arrival
One thing we can all relate to is the arrival at Taylor Swift’s concert. There’s this impression you get when you see the thousands of people already outside the venue, that maybe they slept there waiting. It was a bit shocking to eventually find out that that thought wasn’t far off. The Swifties in Argentina made that assumption a fact after they camped for 5 months ahead of Taylor Swift’s arrival last year in November. Guess there are levels to Swifting.
For us, arriving at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu wasn’t stressful. It’s our city, we know our way around. We got ourselves the standard tickets, so we knew we had to be at the stadium very early to have early access to the concert.
Luckily the checking process wasn’t as tedious as we had expected. We did come prepared, hydrated, with a pair of comfortable shoes and all. In no time, we were inside the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, and it was a lovely sight to behold. Taylor’s touring team has also been consistent with decorating each stadium and making it a Taylor Swift Arena.
Everything was all set and awaiting our (Swifties) arrival. The waiting part was altogether a fun experience. We had the chance to witness the arrival of other special guests – “Paramore,” the opening act for Taylor Swift’s Madrid concert. Their arrival created an atmosphere of excitement. They too have had quite an influence on the world of music, the fans were happy to see them. We were just waiting for Taylor, no one else had our attention at that moment.
The main character: Taylor Swift
The stage had a virtual watch that displayed the countdown to when Taylor Swift will take the stage. As the minutes shrunk to seconds, and the seconds to nothing, our excitement grew in a scalar form, and the roar in the stadium as it hit 00:00 was clear proof that every Swiftie was in sync with the other.
Then almost immediately, there was a silent stadium. Everyone went quiet. That was because, the stage which we all thought was closed, was beginning to open. Our curiosity immediately got the best of us. We were curious to see what was going to come out of the stage. Something in us kept insisting it would be Taylor Swift. But, to our greatest surprise, it wasn’t Taylor Swift.
It was a group of choreographers, who were dressed as peacocks. 4 of them came out first, and made a beautiful entrance. However, the 5th one came out soon to join the 4 and we soon found out that that was our beloved Taylor Swift, when the choreographers lifted their supposed “Train,” revealing Taylor as the 5th member.
This marked the beginning of our first night at Madrid’s Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. The events that unfolded next were sections of performances by Taylor Swift representing each Era, magically.
The Eras Tour
We soon got to the “Traylor Effect.” That is the part of the concert where Swifties react extremely to everything Taylor Swift does. This includes overtaking her when she is singing a song, and shouting at the top of their voices when she makes a gesture towards them.
That night, we decided to let it all out. We “Shook it off,” to the best of our abilities. Mere looking at us, you could tell we were not used to having such kind of fun. A lot of times, we have correspondences feeding us live from the event, while we dish out content about the concert. But that night was different. We get to experience all that we’ve written about, live. We also learned that; being told stories does not always make justice. It’s best to experience your experience.
One of the most magical moments of the night was the time when Taylor Swift confessed that we made her feel strong. She said so while making a gesture with her arm. Her muscles were visible. You could tell she was already into the crowd from the smile on her face. The night had just started at that time, but we all knew it was going to be a fun experience. One we will never forget the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
The Dynamic Setlist
Taylor Swift then took her time to surf through the setlist of the “Eras Tour.” You already know what it is. We started with Lover and then went through Fearless, Evermore and Reputation. In no time, we were already at the Acoustic Set.
We’d been there for some hours, but at that moment, we began to realize that it was already coming to an end. The concert is scheduled for 2 nights, but we’ve already exhausted 1 night. The thought of it is enough to make one sad. But we did not let that ruin our excitement, it’s Taylor Swift we’re talking about, and she was right in our sight.
We’ll surely attend more of Taylor Swift’s concerts before the year runs out. We figured one of the major challenges we would’ve faced was getting tickets to the concerts. Luckily, we already have an alternative ticket marketplace where we can easily get Taylor Swift tickets. You can check out this site too if you need tickets.
