Rite Here Rite Now: On the red carpet with Tobias Forge, Alex Ross Perry, Creeper and Bambi Thug at the London premiere
Swedish rock band Ghost, who formed in 2006, have garnered attention for their theatrical performances led by singer Tobias Forge. He performs incognito under the guise of “Papa Emeritus IV”, as well as other personas like “Cardinal Copia”, where prosthetics, heavy makeup and religious adornments shroud him in anonymity.
The musicians that perform around Forge are “Nameless Ghouls” and they also take to the stage wearing masks, hooded cloaks and other concealing costumes. Aside from the aesthetic mystique, the band deliver a blend of arena rock, gothic lyricism and heavy metal sounds, and have already released five studio albums and performed worldwide. Their new film, a collaborative directorial effort between Forge and Alex Ross Perry, Rite Here Rite Now is an insight into their world for fans. Having released a series of popular video “Chapters”, the feature extends beyond this into a narrative that sews together performances from the group as they perform dates at the Kia Forum in LA.
The Upcoming had the pleasure of attending the world premiere at Picturehouse London where we spoke to Forge about why he wanted to make this film, the collaboration between the two directors and what fans can expect from any new material.
Perry spoke to us about working on this project, the narrative behind it and some of the highlights of making this feature with the band.
We chatted with the British rock band Creeper about attending the premiere, being fans of the band Ghost and their own plans for the future with their music.
