Trap: On the red carpet with Josh Hartnett, M Night Shyamalan and Saleka Shyamalan at the London premiere

Famed director and storyteller M Night Shyamalan brings more twists and plot turns to screen with his latest film Trap. Two years in the making, it’s a contemporary, psychological horror tale that brings audiences into a unique narrative that blends pop music with its sinister storylines.

When Copper (Josh Hartnett) takes his teenage daughter Riley (Ariel Donoghue) to a concert of her favourite pop star Lady Raven (Saleka Shyamalan), things take a strange turn as he realises he’s at the centre of a police investigation to find a serial killer known as “The Butcher”. The concert is a ruse to entrap the assassin and soon Cooper finds himself in an ongoing cat-and-mouse chase as it’s revealed he himself is the person of interest.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of attending the London premiere of Trap and spoke to Hartnett about his role in the movie, what it was like working with Shyamalan in the driving seat and the authenticity of the concert atmosphere he’d created.

Shyamalan chatted to us about what inspired him to tell this story and what it was like working with his own daughter, who helped shape the storylines of this latest film project.

We spoke to Saleka Shyamalan about her part in the film as Lady Raven and what it was like working alongside her father on this dark psychological thriller.

Trap is released nationwide on 9th August 2024.
