Netflix to premiere The Electric State directed by Russo brothers featuring star-studded cast in March 2025

Netflix is scheduled to premiere its latest film, The Electric State, on 14th March 2025. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, known for their work on Avengers: Endgame, the film features a star-studded cast including Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt and Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan. The narrative unfolds in an alternate retro-futuristic version of the 1990s, following a young orphan’s perilous journey across a robot-infested American West.

The Electric State presents Michelle, an orphaned teenager played by Brown, who is famous for her roles in Stranger Things and Enola Holmes. The plot begins when Michelle encounters Cosmo, a cartoonish robot who leads her to believe that her presumed-dead younger brother, Christopher, might still be alive. Determined to find him, Michelle teams up with a smuggler named Keats, played by Chris Pratt, and his robotic sidekick, Herman, voiced by Anthony Mackie. Their adventure takes them to the Exclusion Zone, a segregated area for robots, unveiling a conspiracy surrounding her brother’s disappearance.

The movie boasts an ensemble cast including Jason Alexander, Giancarlo Esposito, Stanley Tucci and Woody Norman. Additionally, the voices of Woody Harrelson, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate and Alan Tudyk bring life to the film’s robotic characters. The screenplay, penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, is based on the graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag.

The film’s production team includes not only the Russo brothers but also Mike Larocca, Angela Russo-Otstot, Chris Castaldi and Patrick Newall. The executive production team features Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, and a host of other industry veterans.
