Found in the wilderness: Little Wolf Vintage
Little Wolf Vintage was created in early 2011. “The inspiration behind the name and the feeling of the brand was a book I wrote when I was very young (8 years old) called Lonely Little Wolf. The book was about a wolf cub finding his place in an unfamiliar world, and I think Little Wolf Vintage is about belonging, and embracing who you really are.” Aside from her fashion creations, Arizona-born Geneva is currently in Perth studying psychology.
The brand specialises in creating and reworking pieces to make them unique to the person wearing them. When asked what techniques she uses to produce these gorgeous items, Geneva simply said “too many to list!” Our favourite piece here at The Upcoming has to be her pair of Galaxy Highwaisted Shorts. The Galaxy print, unique to Little Wolf, is printed onto pairs of vintage denim cut-offs of varying colours, shapes and sizes, meaning that each pair really is individual.
Little Wolf Vintage’s creator, Geneva, has every intention of using her brand to make people feel unique and comfortable in their own skin. “I think fashion and beauty help you feel confident – no matter what size you are or whether your personal style matches the magazines. Just be you, and don’t look back!” She went on to say that Little Wolf is directed at young people of all backgrounds, at those who still keep their sense of self. We love this whole notion of tailoring fashion to your own personality rather than following specific trends rigidly. How boring would the world be if everyone dressed the same? Little Wolf hopes to get bigger and bolder in the future, potentially broadening their winter wear and creating some edgy swimwear too!
Geneva describes her personal style as “feminine but with a bit of a punk edge. I definitely use fashion to express myself. I love wearing clothes that are comfortable and creative. Fashion for me is about an outward expression of inner beauty”. We think that Geneva has the right idea. Not only is it very on trend to wear vintage right now, but learning how to fix, create and redesign old clothing is a must-have skill for this day and age, especially due to current economic issues. Whether you feel that fashion is a spectator sport or a way of expressing yourself, Geneva makes a great point that you should always feel comfortable in your own skin.
