It’s all about luck at Comfort Station

A lot of people believe in luck, to some people it plays a big part in their lives. At Comfort Station, luck inspired the Spring 2012 collection.

Amy Anderson created Comfort Station after completing a fine art degree. She grew up around markets and started selling her creations at Portobello Market. In 2003 Amy’s first official collection was shown at London Fashion Week. Eight years later and Comfort Station is stocked in several boutiques and department stores. After several years of creating bags and accessories, Comfort Station introduced its first silver jewellery collection for Autumn/Winter 2006. The jewellery is now a favourite amongst customers and is stocked in Europe, America, Asia and Australia. 

Every piece of jewellery is handcrafted in East London to exacting standards to prevent it from becoming mass-produced. There are no animal products used in the collections; all the wood is from sustainable resources and the products are made within the UK. 

For the Spring 2012 collection the theme is luck. Amy saw an exhibit all about unlucky numbers and it set her on a journey of researching numbers that are considered lucky in different cultures. The number eight features heavily in some of the pieces. According to Comfort Station’s website, “Eight is traditionally a number considered very lucky in Asian cultures.”

The collection features a lot of solid gold chunky elements, combined with silver elements. It has got a tribal feel to it and the Fortuna 8 Earrings in Gold (£99) are gorgeous; we love the fans on them. When asked what her favourite piece was from the collection, Amy told us: “Personally, if I had to pick one piece from the collection it would probably be the Long Phantom Necklace though, since I really like the simple bold pieces.”

Ernest Hemingway once said “You make your own luck…” in Amy’s case, she literally has. Grab your own piece of luck here.
