Press Day: elegant like Kate or commercial with an edgy twist – a day out at Nicole Levy PR
If you were by any chance wondering whether to go for the lady or the girly look this autumn, you would have probably figured that out at Nicole Levy PR press day. Yesterday’s press day gave us a preview of the autumn/winter collection of several designers, among whom were Lashes of London and Moloh. Since both brands are quite the contrary, it made a remarkable – though interesting – combination.
Lashes of London launched out with its characteristic flowers, bows and lace. The rainy and dark autumn season didn’t hold the designers back from going floral; the collection is as quirky as ever. A year ago Lashes of London presented their first collection in spring/summer 2012. Today they proudly present their upcoming “Lashes edit” collection, which will be for sale in Topshop. Both the “Edit” and the normal pieces are a varied and fun collection of clothes. The designers have been experimental with scales, colours and materials that resulted in a commercial ensemble with an edgy twist.
According to their website, Lashes of London find inspiration from flea markets in LA to art museums in Paris. The resulting collection is supposed to take you on a “global journey” and “turn heads” while wearing it. The pieces were outstanding and diverse enough to reach both goals to some extent.
Moloh showed a more sophisticated and elegant style in their presented collection. With a little help from Kate Middleton, the fashion brand is growing out to be more popular every day. The expectations are high, but there’s no doubt that Moloh will live up to them. Great tailoring and little details give the pieces a durable look.
Another showed designer that went for quirky was Beach Riot. The prints and colours of the “California beach babe swim brand” are catchy and striking. Beach Riot managed to find a great way of creating a girly look without it looking too young. The bikinis and bathing suits are one by one head turners.
