London Collections: Men – Velsvoir x October House S/S 2014

Arriving at the swanky bar at The Ivy in Leicester Square, we walked into an array of stylish, impressively dressed and urbane individuals. From fashion-conscious fashion bloggers with their cameras at the ready to immaculately dressed fashionistas, the atmosphere was calm and refined with an undertone of excitement and energy. We were at London Collections: Men spring/summer 2014 and it was a tremendous turnout for luxury menswear accessories brand Velsvoir, and bespoke men’s tailoring company, October House.

Velsvoir was founded by three brothers specialising in bow ties, neck ties and pochettes for both men and women. With each piece being handmade in Britain, the products have an exclusive and personal feel. The collections include funky printed bow ties, lavish velvet bow ties, stylish premium bow ties and suave velvet pocket squares. 

The brand collaborated with October House who aim to “bring back the romance of the suit” by making “the craftsmanship of English tailoring accessible and affordable”. Offering an in-house tailoring service, the company uses the highest quality cloth sourced from English mills to create sophisticated yet stylish pieces.

After sipping on the complimentary champagne and admiring the view, we were witnesses to the short yet engaging showcase revealing dapper models dressed in elegant ensembles posing for the cameras. The models were seated on chairs as they re-enacted daily activities such as reading the newspaper and scrolling through an iPad to demonstrate the life of a modern man. The outfits looked polished yet casual, paired with different coloured Converse trainers.

With both collections being available to buy online it looks like the “era of the modern dandy” is well under way!
