Clash of the prints: Marni vs H&M
http://www.youtube.com/embed/9wK-CgE8mdIMove over Versace; and dare I write it, David Beckham. There’s a new collaboration in town that we’re all dying to get our hands on, thanks to yet another H&M high street meets high fashion project. Inspired by the classic clashing of Marni prints (we’re talking 60’s polka dot meets geometric images), the collection promises to be a must have range of the season.
“I’m very proud of the result–everything has the same level of quality, craft and attention to detail that Marni is known for,” designer Consuelo Castiglioni said in a statement. “I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favourite pieces in signature fabrics and prints”.
Inspired by Moroccan culture and the quirky modernism of the 1960’s, the collection sees expressionist designs taking the lead. The colour combinations of acidic bright are complimented against the neutral palette of tonal colours creating a multicultural yet high summer style essence. With vivid colours appearing in classic Marni shift dresses, bold full-pleated skirts and jacquard knits, the silhouettes are all Marni staples with the affordability of H&M price points combined.
The promotional video that was released this week sees the face of the campaign, Sophie Coppola, cavorting in the sunset to Bryan Ferry’s ‘Avalon’ at a totally chilled out bohemian setting within Marrakech. The styling is all about matching new combinations of print and colour, and with such incredible craftsmanship behind every piece, the collection is bound to be a huge success amongst customers and the fashion world alike.
So until the Marni/H&M collaboration is released in global H&M stores in spring, I’ll leave you with a promotional video to put your fashionable mind into overdrive! See you in queue on the 8th of March.
