Celebrities baring it all
There are two types of women in this world. The type you will never see without make-up (except perhaps when she’s just woken up), and the type you rarely see with make-up on. The women in-between these two categories are very scarce. Which group do you fall under?
From my own past experience I used to be the kind of woman who needed to wear that mask to bring out my self-confidence. I worked in sales and felt it made all the difference. Perhaps it was that boost I needed. Now, having a desk job where I do not really have contact with clients, I feel more relaxed without the foundation and blush. I am me.
Look at celebrities – from Jessica Simpson to Kim Kardashian – who have been on the covers of top magazines promoting women to just be themselves. We all are beautiful in our own way and never forget that. Feel comfortable with your features. There will always be things you want to change, but you are a natural beauty.
‘I don’t have anything to prove anymore’, Jessica Simpson told Marie Claire in May 2010. ‘What other people think of me is not my business.’
Jessica’s words ring so true, they take me back to the days when TLC’s song Unpretty or Christina Aguilera’s Beautiful were being played constantly on the radio. I was back in high school when these were huge hits; the toughest period I think for a young lady transforming and learning about her body.
Lady Gaga in the October 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar was saying: ‘Whether I’m wearing lots of makeup or no makeup, I’m always the same person inside.’
Being a woman is hard; being a celebrity is even tougher. You are constantly under a magnifying glass. ‘Make-up is fun, but it’s just another accessory’, Kim Kardashian told Life & Style Magazine in May 2010. ‘I’m happy with myself, and this is who I am.’
These are all words spoken by women who are proud, confident, and strong. At one point they may not have been comfortable with their skin but they are now. Remember that no one should bring you down. Be you. Be happy. There is only one of you for that reason; you are unique!
