Discovery 2 & IMC present Autumn Adventure at AAA
This month, Discovery 2 has paired up with IMC (International Music Company) to showcase what they think to be the hottest upcoming acts. Yesterday the AAA hosted Autumn Adventure, which comprised of solo artist Jay Leighton and groups Dancing Years, As Tall As Trees and The Barnum Meserve. And, as if the event’s aim to put emerging talent in the spotlight wasn’t enough, a raffle was also held during the night, with all the proceeds donated to the Warren Young People’s project, which helps unprivileged young adults.
Music was the main protagonist though. At a time when it’s easier for musicians to promote themselves thanks to the Internet, it’s ironically harder to break through and stand out from such a massive amount of wannabes. This is where Discovery 2 comes in, giving a chance to shine to those who are held as particularly deserving. The likes of Scouting For Girls and Ed Sheeran are among the acts that have gone on to sign record deals and become worldwide names, and therefore the credentials here are to be respected.
Autumn Adventure started off with songwriter Jay Leighton, who played delicate tunes on his guitar, in a style in keeping with his reserved personality. Telling the audience how grateful he is for the opportunity to perform with such gifted artists and in such a well-devised event, Leighton delivered a pleasing performance, sharing his emotions with a somewhat saddened hue.
Dancing Years were next on stage. The band was unafraid to highlight each member’s ability, but singer David Henshaw was the real show stealer. His mellow yet powerful voice gave the audience shivers and his charisma on stage was spellbinding. As Tall as Trees then followed: a rocking band, although perhaps less convincing at times.
The honour to close the event went to The Barnum Meserve. With a darker sound, though not entirely melancholic, their singer’s scratchy, screaming voice was still harmonious and gripping to listen to.
Discovery 2 has something for every taste and won’t disappoint real music lovers always on the lookout for new, genuine artists to follow.
