The SHEME S/S 2014 footwear collection
Chinese couture shoe designer SHEME, by Linda Liu, added a luxury touch to this season’s catwalk show presenting the latest women’s wear designs created by Ji Cheng at London Fashion Scout.
The designer created the footwear collection for the highly theatrical fashion show, which offered a perfect combination of traditional Chinese cultural elements and contemporary shapes.
The Ji Cheng S/S 2014 women’s wear pieces were inspired by the feelings of love and passion combined with the femininity and mystery of the Far East. The sophisticated oriental kimonos, luxurious coats and floaty skirts revealed the gemstone-like shoes with each step on the catwalk. The collection was designed to be a perfect complement to the Butterfly and Blossoms footwear collection by SHEME.
The S/S 2014 SHEME footwear range offers a light breeze of pastel colours, cherry blossom pinks, lemon sorbet yellow and light blue, as well as passionate scarlet and classic black.
Each pair was made by hand using exact foot measurements and extremely delicate materials. The detailing of the shoes includes three-dimensional embroidery, diamond ironing and feathers.
The crystals used to create the delicate decorations are all Swarovski, carefully placed onto the leather with a special laser technique. This process takes up to 12 hours to make these delicate footwear pieces perfect and durable. To create a SHEME shoe, it takes precise work from measuring the feet to cutting the sole, carefully attaching it to the upper part and decorating the heel.
The show at London Fashion Scout was the young designer’s debut in the fashion world. The SHEME by Linda Liu footwear collection was also showcased at Paris Fashion Week in September, and will be presented again in Germany this month.
