River Island to collaborate with Katie Eary
For their latest Design Forum collection, River Island have teamed up with British designer Katie Eary to create a colourful collection that Eary says is inspired by Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
After studying at the Royal College of Art, Katie Eary graduated with an MA in 2000 and was soon after contacted by British Vogue to have her pieces modelled by Kate Moss. Since then her bold and brash style and designs have caught everybody’s attention, including that of Kanye West, who she worked with back in 2011.
Now for their spring/summer 2014 range, one of the most successful and stylish high-street labels, River Island, have picked Eary to design an 18-piece collection that will be on sale from 17th February.
After such success with other Design Forum collaborations, there is no doubt that this partnership will be just as wildly popular. The prices start from as little as £15 and go up to £120.
Only one image so far has been released in regards to this campaign, and it showcases a floating shape with bright colours and a bold pattern. Backing up Eary’s description of the collection, she cited: “It all became very ‘tribal dipped in gold.’”
So what else can we expect from the River Island and Katie Eary collection? Both are daring when it comes to fashion and do not shy away from eye-catching prints and strong colours. Plus if Eary has taken inspiration from Las Vegas and tribal print and gold, there is sure to be a fabulous mix of striking motifs, possibly leopard print or Ikat tribal, and in rich colours such as gold, red and orange with the added glamour you always receive rom River Island.
The collection will first be seen on film during London Fashion Week; the movie will be directed by King Burza and will beshowcased during Fash/On Film, meaning you will have to wait until the New Year to see it!
