Winter to spring: A wardrobe transition
We know winter is finally coming to an end when we leave work and find a hint of sunlight still lingering, when our teeth aren’t chattering as we wait for the bus and we can finally begin drying our clothes outside. Yes that’s right, spring is on its way – it’s time to bury away the scarves and gloves and shake out our sundresses and bright tees.
But somehow it feels slightly dramatic to switch from our winter dulls and garb our body in pretty pastels. Also the days may be brighter but a cold bite still lurks. So we need to slowly make the transition from a winter wardrobe to a spring and summer one. We have outlined a few tips, which will help you make this a seamless transition.
Your winter coat has been a great friend over the past few months but it is definitely time to say farewell. However, you still need something to keep you warm. Marc Jacobs announced the bomber jacket as being on trend this spring, and who’s to disagree with Mr Jacobs? It gives us an edgy way of welcoming spring with colourful and adventurous prints and light textures and fabrics to allow us to look and feel comfortably cool.
You won’t need those chunky knits anymore but you still need something warm so swapping them for a cropped jumper is the perfect way to maintain the warmth but not turn you into a perspiring mess. Match it with a high-waisted skirt and you are ready to take on the spring weather.
It’s certainly not time to dust of our sandals just yet, but those sheep-skinned lined ankle boots should definitely take a back space in your wardrobe if you want to avoid sweaty toes. It’s time to get out the colourful brogues, peep toe boots (it’s time for a pedicure) and floral lace-up oxfords. These footwear delights all featured in SS14 fashion week and we are excited to include them in our wardrobe this season.
And let’s not completely disregard our scarves as they can still work as great accessories for the spring months. Choosing a lighter more colourful scarf can add dimension to a basic outfit. You can also wear it in your hair with a pair of sunnies to create a 60s-style look.
So there you have it; a few ways we can break into a bright and breezy spring. Enjoy the good weather!
