Brow Arch “Arch Angels” March through London
Beauty and charity joined together for a fabulous alliance, as hundreds of women hit the streets of central London last week for Brow Arch March on Sunday 10th March 2014. And actress, Kara Tointon was there to join them.
The weather was sunny and the atmosphere fresh. Everyone joined and walked together to raise money and awareness for women who are challenged by the visible effects of cancer treatment, and how hard loss of hair, eyebrows, eyelashes and other skin-related issues can be to cope with.
An initiative by Benefit Cosmetics, Look Good Feel Better and Debenhams, the first annual Brow Arch March started its cause at Berkeley Square Gardens and continued through the day. In keeping with the arch theme, walkers passed London’s most iconic arches including Marble Arch, Wellington Arch and Admiralty Arch. At each of these checkpoints participants received beauty “touch-ups” to their lips, eyes, cheeks and of course, eyebrows, courtesy of Benefit Cosmetics.
The charity event day was an overall glorious success and all the attendees were happy to be there, and Kara Tointon was one of them. Kara says: “Walking alongside hundreds of women was a celebration of the amazing work Look Good Feel Better does for the wellbeing and self-confidence of women struggling with the visible side effects of cancer treatment. Banding together with such inspirational women to participate in something so rewarding has been an experience to remember, and the money we have raised for the cancer charity will make a real difference to the work they do.”
Sarahjane Robertson, executive director of Look Good Feel Better, is also very proud of the event. She says: “A huge thank you to Benefit for a stunning first ever Brow Arch March. It’s been amazing to see so many people join Kara Tointon on the March and we’ve enjoyed transformative make-overs along the way, as well as passing several of London’s historic arches. Throughout the whole of March we’d now like to encourage everyone to visit their local Benefit Brow Bar in Debenhams for a complimentary brow experience and make a requested donation to Look Good Feel Better. All funds raised will enable Look Good Feel Better to help more women face cancer with confidence.”
Though the Brow Arch March won’t be back until next year, the charity is still fighting for awareness and is looking forward to the future. Benefit Cosmetics’ managing directors, Ian Marshall and Gail Bojarski explain that the first annual Brow Arch March has set a precedent for the years to follow. “The Brow Arch March has swept the nation this month and we’re delighted with the overwhelming support shown by thousands of women across the UK. Backing a charity such as Look Good Feel Better to celebrate and showcase its continued work proved a natural step for Benefit and we couldn’t be more proud of the success of Brow Arch March. This is something that we will be rolling out for years to come.”
Even if you missed the march, you can still help the mission and get involved. Until 31st March, Benefit “Brow Bars” – located in 50 Debenhams stores across the country – will be offering a complimentary brow arch service (worth £11.50) for a suggested minimum donation of £5, with all proceeds going directly to Look Good Feel Better.
We were happy to be there and march for the cause.
