Wedding Journal Young Designer of the Year 2014 competition
Do you believe you could be the next Vera Wang? Do you want people to desire to wear a dress you have designed for their wedding day? If you’ve answered yes to these questions, you might want to enter this amazing competition.
Wedding Journal magazine is committed to supporting the development and emergence of young design talent across Ireland and is delighted to announce the return of the Young Designer of the Year competition.
The competition to design a wedding dress is open to fashion students, aspiring designers and creative individuals across Ireland who are under the age of 25.
Shortlisted finalists from the north and south or Ireland will have their dresses featured on the catwalk in front of an audience of thousands at The Wedding Journal Shows in Dublin (27th until 28th September) and Belfast (3rd until 5th October).
All dresses will also have the opportunity to be previewed at an exclusive design event in Clandeboye Estate, County Down on Tuesday 19th August.
The winning design will be chosen by the public following an extensive and high profile online voting campaign driven by the magazine, and hosted on Wedding Journal.
Winners will be revealed on the final day of the Belfast show.
The winning designer will receive:
- An interview feature in Wedding Journal magazine
- The opportunity to have their winning dress featured in a professional shoot in Wedding Journal magazine
- Champagne and a certificate
- Publicity in local press and media
Competition details
Design entries must be submitted on an A3 board by Friday 20th June 2014 and delivered to Wedding Journal, Penton Publications, 38 Heron Road, Belfast, BT3 9LE.
Judging by Wedding Journal’s team of experts will take place on Tuesday 24th June.
Finalists will be informed on Wednesday 25th June.
Finalists’ mood boards will be featured on the Wedding Journal website where the public will have the chance to vote for their favourite design. Voting will remain open until Friday 3rd October.
Finalists are required to create their dresses, remaining true to the design featured on the mood board. Wedding Journal magazine will pay £100/€120 towards the cost of materials. Costs are to be invoiced to the above address.
Finalists’ dresses must be completed by Friday 15th August and delivered to the Belfast office above, in time for a dress fitting for the event at Clandeboye on Tuesday 19th August.
Finalists must be prepared to partake in any promotional activity requested by the magazine and must be available to attend either the Belfast or Dublin shows.
Any costs incurred by the finalists (including postage and travel) are their own.
