Creative fashion label Huntergather launched their S/S 2015 menswear collection at their Wigmore Street store at London Collections: Men this week.SS15-HunterGathererBS-069

The regenerating company who takes the styles of the past and reinvents them for the modern day is attacking the dance waves of the 80s, taking the soul boy into the 21st century, using influences from fashion icon David Bowie to the R&B scene of the local dance halls.SS15-HunterGathererBS-025

Colour is something Huntergather have always used, and in this collection they have spared no expense of the colour chart, with pastel pinks, earthy and bright palettes and funky, jazz cut-outs. Wanting to depict the soul boy, their attempt on style from this decade is through curly-perms, plastic jelly sandals and socks, pleated trousers, high-waisted bottoms and summer knits tucked in.SS15-HunterGathererBS-015

There was a huge air of Simon LeBon in the collection, with the 80s influence far too strong. Huntergather’s brilliant reputation of morphing classic to contemporary is what was lacking in this line, though the ideas and inspirations are brilliant and daring, this time it was maybe a little off the mark.
