Buy yourself a one-of-a-kind scarf for this summer from Sparrows Green Studio
Founder and designer Kate Palmer started her London-based scarf brand, Sparrows Green Studio, only this year. However, she has managed to create some of the most fabulously designed scarves we have ever seen and we could not resist taking the opportunity to tell you all about her amazing work.
Taking the name of her brand from a little village in East Sussex, Kate decided to call her business by somewhere she has fond memories. Now, basing herself in South London, Kate takes ideas from her countryside roots to inspire her work and prints.
After graduating from university with a degree in printed textiles, Kate was able to work as a freelance textile designer and worked under famous fashion houses such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. It was from there, she decided to take her valuable experiences and love of country life to inspire her own work. She now uses nature, visual illustrations and kaleidoscopic prints to produce beautiful, silk creations.
The scarves themselves are all designed by Kate’s original pencil drawings. From this stage, the scarves are then screen or digitally printed onto the scarf with care and attention to detail. Each piece is designed to make the wearer feel fabulous. The brand also prides itself on making the scarves all within the UK.
The prints are truly unique but have a certain appeal about them. They are guaranteed to finish off any look and are great to dress up or dress down one of your best summer dresses. Our favourite? It has to be the Birds of Britain print scarf in a vibrant, stunning yellow; perfect for lazy days in the sunshine this summer.
In addition to this, Kate has launched a new scarf in aid of the Bat Conservation Trust. The newly designed scarf features a kaleidoscope of different bats, such as the noctule bat, the greater mouse-eared bat and the horseshoe bat. Kate wanted to highlight the importance of the charity’s work and the role that bats play within our environment. 15% of the scarf’s proceeds, which retails at £45, will go to the charity to support the public’s awareness of bats.
