How to: Wear denim
From that dreaded fashion faux pas of double denim to that old pair of denim dungarees. It’s a fabric that is incredibly versatile, perfect all year round and never goes out of fashion; denim is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the style stakes. But lately it seems people are forgetting the power of this classic material, so here is a quick reminder of how to work denim on the daily.
Denim-on-denim
Fashion rules are meant to be broken, and that could not be any more true when it comes to double denim. Forget about Bewitched, double denim can totally work. Just remember: opt for contrasting shades, try a shirt and jean combo and add a pop of colour. But please don’t get too greedy and try to work triple denim!
Denim shirt
A denim shirt is one of the wardrobe basics that everyone should have in their closet. Like most things denim, it’s a casual piece, and just like jeans it goes with practically anything and everything. Mix things up by wearing your denim shirt layered over other items for a laidback, grunge style or button it right to the top for a geek chic look.
Denim jeans
We all have a pair, obviously! Whether they’re those lived-in flares you’ve had for years or trendy ripped-up skinnies, trends always come back around so keep up to date with what styles are in. It is important that you get a new pair every once in a while too, denim tends to misshape over time so don’t be afraid of spending too much for good quality.
Denim dungarees
This childhood classic can look totally stylish dressed up or down and with a range of long leg, short leg and even cute pinafore dresses, there’s a style to suit us all. With the dungarees being the key part to the look it’s incredibly easy to style them with a range of tops, shoes, accessories and allow the denim overalls to do all the hard work.
Denim jacket
When it comes to the denim jacket the “blue jean” look is classic. A neutral staple for your wardrobe, it’s the piece we should all have in our lives and something to take us through each of the seasons. With denim jackets available in light, medium and dark washes there’s bound to be something to suit your style.
