Monique Lhuillier catwalk show report for NYFW A/W 2015
Furs and sequins covered the waves of fashionistas waiting for the runway show for womenswear designer Monique Lhuillier’s A/W 2015 collection. Monique Lhuillier is able to define femininity and delicacy in any gown she designs. The Filipina designer began creating wedding gowns in Los Angeles which is also home to her first couture fashion house. Lhuillier also has a fashion house here in New York City.
In complete darkness, music started to play all throughout the peculiar setup of the tent. Opting for a runway in which the crowd was only on one side and a large set of steps on the other, the show began with elegant lace midi dresses in black, burgundy and teal. The body-hugging dresses soon turned into full-pocketed skirts still paired with lovely lace. Lhuillier continued her display of elegance with some prints and pantsuits with tops that included beautiful flowing trains.
Colored jackets in purple and teal added as perfect accessories alongside various shoes which Lhuillier just added to her line. Lhuillier also took the audience on a short trip back in time to the 70s with deep v-cut satin dresses in long sleeve and one shoulder styles. Models were styled in sleek straight hair, and neat up-dos to further perfect the gowns. It wouldn’t be a Lhuillier collection without a touch of sequins.
Gowns of gold and rose gold shone on the runway along with long sleeve green and purple gowns also covered in sequins. The show ended with models walking away from the steps in pairs giving the audience one last look of the flowy trains, sequined gowns and elegant lace in a variety of colors including beautiful purples, golds and greens.
Lhuillier quickly walked part of the runway as the crowds of satisfied onlookers praised her for her fabulous collection. Expect to see various celebrities in some of the gowns of this Fall’s collection. Lhuillier has had celebrities such as Shameless Emmy Rossum, actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Kate Beckinsale.
