Julianna Bass catwalk show report for NYFW A/W 2015

A rather cold and windy evening on the West Side of Manhattan turned into bright event once we stepped inside of Studio 450 on February 12^th. Anticipation was in the air. Fashion editors, bloggers, models and guests of the designer gathered to see what appeared to be inspirational collection of extremely feminine looks mixed with structured boyish pants and oversized shirts and low cut dresses.

New York-based Julianna Bass’ collection was inspired by the city of Berlin, which manifested in luxury fabrics, structured silhouettes, classic but edgy and playful elegance and overwhelming feeling of modern femininity. Colors of deep red, black, ivory, burgundy on silk, lace, leather and silk wool dominated the runway and helped to get a sense of freedom and elegance of the modern woman. The music also reflected these contrasts and fluctuations. From hip-hop to instrumental music, the models seemed to be floating above the catwalk.

Tennessee-native Julianna Bass moved to New York to complete her design education at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She’s worked in major fashion houses such as Elie Tahari, Eugenia Kim and Marc Jacobs before going independent with her own label in 2008. Since then she’s concentrated on creating a look of minimalistic luxury, elegance and confidence. She encourages the look of a woman who inspires, yet remains reserved and mystical. In 2014, Julianna moved to Berlin and her latest collection carries on feminine yet strong, edgy and modern look European fashion brings to the table.
