Rejina Pyo collection presentation for LFW A/W 2015

America’s Wild West surfaces through Rejina Pyo’s collection, which any discerning wanna-be-cowgirl will know is a big deal. This was mixed with going back to basics which can come in a plethora of forms, but taking Mother Nature’s message and transforming it into a stunning collection of clothing is a pretty clever interpretation of the statement.

Pyo understands how nature contrasts with itself in its most basic form, and she has managed to capture this in her clothing, balancing materials with cuts and finishes, creating individual pieces that are truly unique. She mixed velvet with satin, created asymmetric patterns and finished them with straight and free-flowing cuts to create an inherently contradicted collection.

Nature was also used as inspiration for the colour palette; an earthy base of grey and other muted tones broke away from the mundane with fierce streaks of acid yellow. Hair and make-up was equally carefree, basic and effortless. The silhouette followed suit with a certain nonchalance about it – California’s free spirit also reigned here encompassing cropped flares, cocoon coats and other items that formed their own lines around the body, somehow becoming ever more flattering.

This collection showed that timeless investments are nigh, and spending extra close attention to a few effortless pieces will make so much more of a statement. Not only has Pyo managed to install nature within her clothing, she also gives us an insight into how to invest our autumnal pieces in the future.
