Karl Lagerfeld announces kidswear collection
Fashion’s most iconic and influential designer, Karl Lagerfeld, has revealed his plans to unveil a childrenswear collection, set to launch in spring 2016 and function under his own label.
The collection will be in collaboration with French children’s fashion group, Groupe CWF, who are home to a host of high-fashion kidswear collections, including Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Chloe and DKNY. Expect to see the likes of the Kardashian-West and Beckham toddlers sporting such designs!
The Karl Lagerfeld brand has stated: “The announcement reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to newness and will allow Karl Lagerfeld to share its ironic, playful, creative vision to a young audience.”
The range will be available for boys and girls from newborns to age 16 with two seasonal collections a year set to be released. This is on top of the eight collections per year that Lagerfeld produces for Chanel, as well as the ample amount of work he does for Fendi and his self-titled brand – an enormous task for the French designer to take on!
“The Karl Lagerfeld Kidswear collection presents a unique opportunity to share our cool, ironic, iconic DNA with a wider Karl Lagerfeld audience…Due to our brand’s wide appeal our expansion into the juniors market is a natural fit to further enhance our reach,” revealed Pier Paolo Righi, CEO and president of the brand.
All eyes are on Lagerfeld’s young godson, Hudson Kroenig, to feature as a model for the collection. The adorable six-year-old has walked many a Chanel runway with his father, Brad Kroenig and Cara Delevingne.
