Jenny Packham presents dazzling A/W15 collection
Since 1988 Jenny Packham has wowed us with her distinct style, be it bridal wear or evening wear. Her designs have been revered amongst celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Angelina Jolie, Dita Von Teese, Kate Hudson and the Duchess of Cambridge. Her autumn/winter 2015 collection was showcased at the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week and earlier this month we got to see and experience her collection upfront at her London press day.
Inspired by artist Raimundo de Madrazo y Garreta, whose subjects are society women, this collection comprises of sumptuous nineteenth-century fashion. It throws light on the richness of draped satins, opulent velvets and delicate lace. Slinky form fitting gowns, full skirts with coquettish slits and contemporary separates of midi palazzo pants were some of the highlights. Tailored flared trousers, peter pan collars and statement jackets in a majestic palette and rich textures also stood out from the collection.
Bright bursts of colours such as poppy red and paprika orange highlighted the painterly hues of nightfall blue, emerald green, black tulip and cocoa. Oversized textural sequins, intricate crystal beadwork and pearls adorned the fabrics giving a sense of drama inspired by the spirit of Garreta’s women.
Ornate earrings and cuffs, crystal embellished headbands, bejewelled clutches added extra glamour to the collection. Our favourites from the lot included an ombré embellished gown, nightfall blue top with a long tail and an empire waist gown in paprika.
Already a hit with the cream of the crop of the industry, we can hardly wait to see these on the red carpet.
