Replay showcases an edgy AW15 collection
Those familiar with Replay will know them as an Italian denim brand with a flare for mixing the “just rolled out of bed” look with both edginess and luxury. Yesterday at their Covent Garden headquarters, Instinct PR showcased Replay’s autumn/winter 2015 collections, and they certainly did not disappoint.
The Replay One-Off collection was perhaps the most exciting: a special, higher priced, collection of statement pieces. The key features were the strict monochrome colour palette, enhanced by a few cheeky signs of blue glitter, and the laid-back, sports-luxe vibe. This capsule collection of jumpers, jeans, skirts and jackets just oozes LA-cool, with an edge. The designers have mixed a whole range of tough and soft fabrics, from white denim skinnies with leather panelling to an embossed sweatshirt jersey with silky sleeves. A combination of ridged and quilted panels, chunky zip detailing, printed neoprene and jeans hand-finished in Italy came together to form a pulled-together urban style.
Known for their jeans, it is no surprise that Replay have been searching for the perfect solution to the age old problem of denims losing their shape in the wash. Their answer is Replay Hyperflex. Five times more stretch than other denim and it can be washed time and time again without losing its elasticity. The jeans are available in womens, mens and kids sizes and a variety of colours, from your everyday denim washes to a few pairs in bright colours for good measure. The prices start at £125, a definite investment, but when you know the jeans will remain figure-hugging wash after wash, the price is justifiable.
The jackets stole centre stage in their wide range of autumn/winter womenswear, from parkas to leather bikers, denim jackets to wool and fur coats. The line carries a few parka jackets, which are set to remain a staple piece through the colder months of 2015. Sequin-motifs up the sleeves gives one khaki parka a feminine side, whilst another’s hood is lined with shocking pink-coloured faux-fur. A real leading piece is a Balmain-esque hybrid of the parka jacket and the bomber, with a subtle leather motif on the upper-arm. Fur still playing a big part in our winter wardrobes this year, the collection includes a few luxurious faux-fur coats; a fluffy grey gilet and soft rabbit-like cream coat make an appearance. Replay uphold their image of being an animal friendly brand with their use of luxury faux-fur.
Naturally, the collection features jeans in all forms, with rips and frays or side-leg striping. However what is really exciting about these is the no-water production method, meaning no harm was done to the planet through harmful chemicals left in the waters.
Also included in the line are shoes and these pairs are exactly what you would expect to see worn alongside the clothes. Tough laced boots with cleated soles make the perfect winter shoes, durable and trendy. Or if you’d prefer something a little more feminine, there are sweet plimsoles in bouclé and grey or stoney glitter effects for dryer days.
With a perfect mix of killer, urban style and quality fabrics that are kind to the environment, a range of affordable prices and luxury quality garment, Replay’s autumn/winter collections wouldn’t look out of place on the street, at work or on a night out; there is something here for every man and woman.
