Ten jobs that could earn you in excess of £100k

The BBC reported in 2012 that the world’s average yearly income per person equates to £6,273 ($10,000), a small sum compared to some executive jobs out there that can bring in an income of £100k a year or more. But just what are these jobs and what do they involve?

Chief information officer

The title sounds like a glorified name for a smaller job but the CIO (chief information officer) in a large corporation has to deal with managing a team of expert IT professionals and take on “responsibility for technology operations, development environments, and all physical infrastructure”. Luckily, should someone be interested in this position, there are plenty of options to start college anytime and begin working on a relevant degree.

Plumber

Due to a severe lack in skilled workers many plumbers out there are taking advantage with some earning between £95k to £100k a year, as a This Is Money article details. With these figures made public why isn’t there a sudden influx of people signing up for plumber apprenticeships?

Bricklayer

In 2014 the office for National Statistics revealed that house prices increased by 6.8% in January of that year. This was due to an influx in housing developments and therefore a plea for skilled bricklayers, who have gone on to earn day rates – in London – of £150 to £200, with the average weekly total salary now amounting to £479.

Business analyst

Private practice GP

Working as a consultant partner in a private GP practice could see you earn an average of £103,000 a year. You might have to work a few weekends though to earn extra cash, but apparently those GPs who do will take home £3,000 in overtime pay. Think about that next time you’re stuck in the office on a Saturday, desperately finishing off a report that’s due on Monday morning.

Commercial barristers

In your second year of working as a barrister you could enjoy earnings of up to £200,000. Barristers are self-employed so this does all depend on how much work they received and the cases themselves but it’s a job title that comes with a big pay packet.

Ofsted chief inspector

To put improvement plans in place for failing schools and to terrify teachers you could get paid up to £199,999. You won’t be popular, but your bank balance will look great.

Chief operating operator Ofsted

Following in the inspector’s footsteps the chief operating operator of Ofsted takes home £165,000. Most executive jobs within the sector enjoy a high salary with the Regional Directors for schools taking home around £130,000.

League one footballer

Footballers playing in the lower leagues can earn from £1,300 to £2,500 a week, which could tot up to a respectable £130,000 a year. That’s peanuts compared to the elite players who earn up to £10 million a season.
