How to spruce up your home in time for spring
With the spring upon us and the summer just around the corner, it’s time that all you fashionable folk turned your attentions to your flats and homes. With a few simple touches and a bit of care you can transform interiors made dull by the bleakness of winter into summer-ready palaces of good vibes.
Add vibrancy
Winter’s the time for dark, cosy tones and comfortable colours. Summer is the time for bright sunshine and happiness. Thankfully it’s quite easy to add some mid-year bliss to your home. Try repainting some walls in a brighter, more cheerful colour; or considering putting up some new wallpaper, perhaps some floral patterns. For a less lasting change, bring in some potted plants or flowers for a bit of hippy chic. Some vibrant tableware or colourful furniture brightens up any room.
Enhance your outdoor spaces
If you’ve got a lawn, mow it. If you’ve got decking, clean and repaint it. If you’ve got any type of outdoor space, it’ll need some care after winter has done its work. Perhaps invest in some new flowers too. Most importantly, make sure you’ve got everything you need for a garden party and barbecue. If you’re feeling particularly flash, bring some culture to your home with stylish tables to be used as workstations, or get designer outdoor furniture.
Creature comforts
If you’ve got hardwood flooring that you’ve had rugs on top of, make sure to uncover them for the summer. The same thing applies to tiled floors, as both surfaces are cooling in the hot summer and feel great underfoot. It’s likely you’ll want to grab some linen or cotton covers for your sofas and chairs to change the overall feel of your home and to prevent feeling sticky or sweaty against any leather.
Enhance natural light
An easy way to get things feeling summery is to increase the amount of natural light you’re letting into your home. Consider taking down any dark curtains in your home and storing them for winter. Think about adding some mirrors, which open any space up and make them seem bigger. Finally, clean and brighten all of your mirrors and windows to permit the maximum amount of light.
There you have it, with a few tricks you can get your home ready for the warmer weather. Add some colours, add some new fabric, clean down and increase your natural light and you’ll have a far brighter and more summer appropriate home.
