Help Britain nail a beauty world record

With the 2012 Olympic Games coming to London this year, everyone seems to be gearing up to a summer of competition, achievement and pride. But you would be mistaken in thinking that the challenge of breaking records is strictly reserved for the sports orientated. The world of beauty is stepping up and embracing this time of competition whole-heartedly. Here though, it’s all about nailing it! Literally.

The London College of Beauty Therapy (LCBT) is attempting to re-claim its title for completing the highest number of manicures in the shortest amount of time. We set the record right here in the UK in 2010 but our crown was handed over to Australia in September 2011 when an Aussie organisation beat our world record. Well this year we want to bring it back to Blighty!

On Thursday 10^th May 2012, LCBT students will attempt to file and varnish 30,000 sets of nails within 8 hours in a bid to break the beauty record once more, and bring glory back to Britain. But the challenge is much more than just a nationalistic trophy. Well-being and charity lies at the heart of the world record attempt, aiming to raise awareness and much-need funds for two fantastic causes: Rays of Sunshine and The Eve Appeal.

Rays of Sunshine is a charity dedicated to granting the wishes of children in the UK who are living with serious or life-threatening illnesses while The Eve Appeal helps to fight against the five gynaecological cancers affecting females today by raising funds for world-class research that saves women’s lives.

But the main ingredient in all this is YOU. In order to support the challenge, LCBT needs 3000 members of the public to take part, get involved and help nail it good and proper. So girls, grab your mothers, sisters, friends and even boyfriends and drag them along for a free file and polish or a file and buff and help LCBT conquer the record, save lives and make a difference.

As if beautiful nails, doing your bit for charity and breaking a world record wasn’t enough, participants also walk away with a super duper goodie bag that includes a fabulous NARS nail polish. Seriously, could there possibly be any more reasons to get involved?!

The world record attempt takes place on Thursday 10^th May 2012 between 11am and 7pm at the London College of Beauty Therapy which is located at 47 Great Marlborough Street in central London.
