Topman collaborates with Nick Grimshaw
Nick Grimshaw is having a very good few months. As the host of the BBC Radio1 breakfast show and the latest name to be announced on the judging panel for the upcoming season of The X Factor, Grimshaw is on his way to becoming a household name.
To metaphorically place the cherry on top of the cake, the radio DJ is following in the footsteps of his good friend and fashion mogul, Kate Moss and has teamed up with high street favourite, Topman, to create an exclusive collection.
With his trademark skinny jeans and flamboyant shirts, the openly gay and fantastically camp presenter has created a collection representative of his own wardrobe and signature style. Grimshaw shared a tiny glimpse into his new line on Instagram a few weeks ago, getting followers and shoppers excited however, the line is not set for public release until October.
To celebrate the launch of his new collaboration, Grimshaw held a private dinner for his close-knit group of famous friends at restaurant Odette’s, in London’s Primrose Hill. In attendance, as expected, was BFF and One Direction front man, Harry Styles who wore one of Grimshaw’s designs. Showing his support, Styles sported a monochrome, printed shirt and black skinny jeans, completely matching his friend-turned-designer. Whether pre-planned or just extremely coincidental, the pair made a fetching and fashionable duo. The collection will include many more of these loud, printed shirts with matching neck-ties as well as bomber jackets, monochrome jumpers, 70s-style fringe jackets and a leopard print coat as seen on Grimshaw during his launch dinner.
Grimshaw’s first tangible glimpse into the fashion industry would have come earlier this year, when selected to host fashion’s star-studded annual event, The Elle Style Awards. Now choosing to step out from the stylish shadows of best-friend and successful fashion designer, Henry Holland and “it” girl, Alexa Chung, Grimshaw is making a name for himself in their world.
With a positive buzz surrounding his first collection it is clear, come October, we will be seeing a lot of black and white and hopefully a few leopard-printed men!
