Sandra Bullock’s Minions-inspired shoes raise $84,850
Minions seems to be taking over the world, one step at a time and with their new film release it seems everyone is diving into the yellow-faced craze. Including none other than actress Sandra Bullock, who auctioned and autographed 10 pairs of minion-themed heels last week.
Sandra, who voices villain Scarlet Overkill in the new box office spectacular, also brought a little bit of sunshine to Art + Practice charity, to which the funds raised were given.
The shoes themselves were designed and created by Rupert Sanderson, as part of the Minions Yellow Bellow collection. The limited edition capsule collection includes clothing, hats, footwear and accessories all inspired by Minions and features six talented designers, such as Tatty Devine and Giles deacon. The pieces are currently on sale and available at Selfridges.com.
Each pair sold for around $4,850 and overall made $42,425, when auctioned off on Charitybuzz.com. The Oscar-winner then match-funded the total, to create a colossal donation of $84,850 for charity. Sandra even rocked a pair of the pumps, at the film premiere in London, earlier in June.
Sandra spoke of the charity, which encourages education and culture for foster youth in the Leimert Park district of Los Angeles: “When you discover people who are truly giving back, and taking care of our community, I think it’s our duty to support and take care of them in return”.
It is clear that these Minions are here to stay and clearly aren’t just for the kids, as it has been rated the second- highest intake for an animation, after Shrek the Third. Having pulled in $115.2 million in its opening weekend at the box office, it has proved more popular than Toy Story!
We love when celebs get involved in fun for charity and those shoes are adorable, especially the little eyelashes on the back of the heel. Go Sandra!
