Your guide to beach hairstyles this summer
Now that the weather seems to be looking up again it is time to head out to the beach and summer it up by the sea. Fashion expression at the beach can be tricky as it mostly revolves around bikinis and pareos. So let’s not forget about hair. Here are some fun ideas for summer hairstyles at the beach.
Bun
The beach can be windy, so you might want to pull your hair out of your face. Buns are a wonderful style for at the beach. They are easy, practical, and leave you with a lot of options to personalise your style. Work in small braids or flowers, or wear it with a headband.
Braid
Braided hair can be simple or it can be extravagant. The key to perfect braided beach hair is keeping it casual by keeping the braid loose. Either braid it that way or pull the strands apart slightly on your completed braid. Not only does it make your hair look effortless, it creates body and makes your hair look fuller. From French braid to fishtail (helloooo, mermaid), anything goes.
Loose Waves
This is the absolute easiest look but it is a beach classic. There’s a reason why salt sprays are so popular. There’s something romantic about wavy sundried hair. There is virtually no prep for this laissez-faire look but you can get a head start on the waves. Wash your hair and pull it into a low bun while still wet. Let it air-dry and remove the bun to let your wavy hair spill free.
Accessories
As beach attire in general is straightforward you can go crazy with accessories to create a unique look. Flowers braided into your hair, seashells on a headband, or a sun visor in a bold colour. Then, of course, there is the classic sun hat. An accessory that you can play safe with a simple colour and a short brim or you can take it over the top – think wide, wider, widest! Not only is the sun hat a classic, it protects your hair and eyes against harmful sun rays.
